Summer Service Updates Begin June 1!

By May 26, 2026No Comments

Big things are happening at Citilink this summer and they’re all designed to make riding easier, more reliable, and better connected for the community!

Beginning June 1, several route and schedule updates will take effect across the system as part of Citilink’s Summer Customer Experience Upgrades. These changes are based on rider patterns, operational performance, community feedback, and ongoing efforts to improve how the system works for the people who rely on it every day.

What’s Changing

Updated Schedules & System Maps

New schedules and updated system maps will be available online, at Central Station, and onboard buses. Riders are encouraged to review the new schedules to make sure they’re prepared for any timing or routing adjustments.

Route #8 Service Adjustments

Route #8 will move to a consistent half-hour service pattern to match the service pattern of the half-hour #4 route during peak hours. This will help improve reliability and create a more predictable rider experience.

#1 Waynedale/#1A Social Security Service Updates

With the reopening of the Bluffton bridge, routing adjustments for the #1 Waynedale/#1A Social Security will return service to more direct travel patterns in the area, helping improve trip times and connections and reducing service duplication.

#21 MedLink Changes

Updates to #21 MedLink service are being implemented to better align with rider demand and operational needs while maintaining access to key destinations such as medical facilities, housing areas, and retail centers. The proposed route would also strengthen connections with other Citilink routes.

Why These Changes Matter

Fort Wayne continues to grow and change and public transportation has to evolve alongside it.

As the community develops, travel patterns shift, new destinations emerge, and rider needs change. These updates are part of Citilink’s ongoing commitment to creating a transit system that is more efficient, sustainable, and responsive to the community.

The goal is simple: better connections, improved reliability, and an easier experience for riders.

More Summer Upgrades Are Coming

These route and schedule updates are just one part of a larger set of improvements launching this summer, including:

  • Tap to Pay onboard buses
  • Fare Capping / Pay-As-You-Go
  • All-Day Passes available onboard
