We’re celebrating the 110th birthday of Rosa Parks on Transit Equity Day, a day we commemorate Rosa Parks as an iconic figure in the movements for social justice and racial equality. She played a major role in ending legal segregation on public transportation systems in the United States during the Montgomery Bus Boycott.

To acknowledge Transit Equity Day (celebrated on February 4 each year), media is invited to attend on February 4, 2023 at the American Legion Post #148 at 705 E. Lewis Street, 46802. The program begins at 9am, with breakfast served starting at 9:30am. Full timeline below:

From 9:30-11:30am, Rosa Parks’ “Featherlite Pancakes” will be served with a $10 donation request. Her recipe was written on the back of an envelope. After she refused to give up her seat on a Montgomery, Ala., bus in 1955, she and her husband lost their jobs and eventually moved to Detroit. They struggled financially and had to be frugal, which is why she reused papers, like banking envelopes, for recipes.
